Connect the hardware

Attach the USB and other cables to the appropriate hardware connectors.

Connectors

The following ports, connectors and buttons are of most interest when you begin working with your Jacinto 7 J721E SK board. To connect and work with the hardware, you need to do the following:
  • ensure that DIP Switch SW1 is set properly. For more information, see the Configure the board switches section in this chapter.
  • connect a USB to serial cable to the J4 connector on the board

  • if you want to run graphics on your board, connect your monitor with a DisplayPort or HDMI cable to the corresponding port on the Jacinto 7 J721E SK board.
    Note:
DisplayPort-to-DVI or DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapters don’t work with DisplayPort. An active DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter is needed to connect to an HDMI device.
  • plug in the USB C power supply (provided separately from the board). For a list of recommended power supplies read section 2.1 Power Input of the SK-TDA4VM User's Guide that's available on the Texas Instruments website at https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spruj21a/spruj21a.pdf
    CAUTION:
Ensure that you use the power supply that came with your board (if applicable). Using any other power supply may damage your board.
The location of the RJ45, USB-serial, and DisplayPort connectors are shown in the following illustration of the board:

For more information about the board, see the SK-TDA4VM User's Guide at https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spruj21a/spruj21a.pdf on the Texas Instruments website.

Configure the board switches

You must configure the following DIP switch for the board as follows:

For EVM Configuration Switch (SW1), ensure that you have the 4 DIP switches set to these positions (listed from 1-4):
OFF OFF OFF OFF
The following diagram shows how SW1 should appear on the board:

For information about the board switches, see the SK-TDA4VM User's Guide https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spruj21a/spruj21a.pdf on the Texas Instruments website.
