Connect the hardware

Attach the USB and other cables to the appropriate hardware connectors.

Connectors

The following ports, connectors and buttons are of most interest when you begin working with your Jacinto 7 J721E EVM board. To connect and work with the hardware, you need to do the following:
  • ensure that the DIP Switches SW3, SW8, SW9, and SW13 are set properly. For more information, see the Configure the board switches section in this chapter.
  • connect the provided USB to serial cable to the J44 connector on the board

  • if you want to run graphics on your board, connect your monitor with a DisplayPort cable to Display0 on the board.
    Note:
DisplayPort-to-DVI or DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapters don’t work with DisplayPort. An active DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter is needed to connect to an HDMI device.
  • plug in the 12V (5A) DC board power supply (provided separately from the board).
    CAUTION:
Ensure that you use the power supply that came with your board (if applicable). Using any other power supply may damage your board.
The location of the RJ45, USB-serial, and DisplayPort connectors are shown in the following illustration of the board:

Configure the board switches

You must configure the following DIP switches for the board as follows:

For EVM Configuration Switch (SW3), ensure that you have the ten DIP switches set to these positions (listed from 1-10):
OFF ON OFF OFF OFF OFF ON OFF ON OFF
The following diagram shows how SW3 should appear on the board:

For the Main Boot Mode Switch (SW8), ensure you have the set to these positions (listed from 1-8):
ON OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF ON OFF
The following diagram shows how SW8 should appear on the board:
