QNX Toolkit1.1QNX Toolkit User's GuideDeveloperSetup

For SDP 8.0, once you've set your SDP's location in the extension, QNX Toolkit checks the SDP for a valid license key based on the IDE. If there is a problem with the license key, QNX Toolkit prompts you with an error message. Without a valid, activated license key, some features of QNX Toolkit are disabled.

Activating a license key

If there is a license key present with your SDP, and it's already activated, then you don't need to take any action. However, if the license key isn't activated, then QNX Toolkit prompts you for activation by displaying an activation pop-up window.

To activate a license key:

  1. If there is only one license key present with your SDP that needs activation, then proceeed to Step 3.
  2. If you have multiple license keys, then select the desired key from the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter the email address associated with your myQNX account.

A notification is displayed that the license key is activated.

Adding a license key

If a license key isn't present for your SDP, then you can retrieve the license key from your myQNX account and add it the QNX Toolkit.

To add a license key:

  1. Obtain the license key that you need from www.qnx.com.
  2. Click the QNX extension icon on the Primary Side Bar to open the QNX menu.
  3. Expand QNX COMMANDS.
  4. Click Activate QNX Toolkit License Key under License.
  5. Enter the license key.
  6. Enter the email address associated with your myQNX account.

A notification is displayed that the license key is added and activated.

Note:
If you cannot complete remote activation, then you can try manual activation. If you have QNX Software Center (QSC) installed, then you can use it for manual activation. Otherwise, use the qlicense utility. For more information, go to qlicense in the Utilities Reference.

Grace period

A valid license key that hasn't been activated is considered to be temporarily activated for a seven-day grace period. During the grace period, you can continue using all QNX Toolkit features, but a warning message is displayed to report the grace-period status. When the grace period expires, the license key is no longer considered activated, and several features become disabled (Debugger, System Profiler, and Building Projects).

To resolve the warning message, you must activate the license. Go to Activating a license key for more information.
