How to add names to the PCI device string database

________________________________________________________________________

Applicable Environment
________________________________________________________________________
  • Topic: How to add name strings to the PCI device string database
  • SDP: 8.0.0, 7.1.0, 7.0.0
  • Target: Any supported target
________________________________________________________________________

The PCI device names are listed in the /etc/system/config/pci/pcidatabase.com-tab_delimited.txt file. If the string is missing, then pci-tool -v will just print "<device id - unknown>".

For example. On the Intel NUC board there is no device string for Intel device 1570.

By adding "1570 Ethernet I219-V" below the "8086" vendor group the PCI device will show up with name.

Please also review the PCI Server User's Guide for more details.
