Issue

After creating a QNX Virtual Machine within VMware or VirtualBox. You might notice that it takes any where from ~3 to ~8 minutes for the VM to load the QNX IFS.

You will see on the screen:

QNX v1.2d Boot Loader: qnx_sdp.ifs

OR

QNX v1.2c Boot Loader: qnx_sdp.ifs

OR

QNX v1.2b Boot Loader: qnx_sdp.ifs

and it will take some time in order to start the QNX IFS.

Solution

To have the VM start within a few seconds we can try doing the following to shut off Virtual Based Security (VBS):

To check if VBS is Running on your machine:
  • Search for "System Information".
  • In the System Summary check if "Virtualization-based security" is Running.
To Disable this try the following steps:
  • Use the Windows search bar to look for "Windows Security" and select the security app.
  • Select Device Security from the left-hand menu.
  • Select Core isolation details underneath the Core Isolation heading.
  • Use the toggle to turn Memory integrity to OFF.
  • Restart your computer. When it boots up again, VBS should be disabled. Again you can check in the System Information page.
  • If the System Information page states this is still running please try the next solution:
  • Use the Windows search bar and look for "Turn Windows Features on or off".
  • Uncheck "Windows Hypervisor Platform" (WHP)
  • Reboot your PC and check "System Information" to see if VBS is not enabled.
If that doesn't work, do the same, but this time uncheck "Virtual Machine Platform".

Please refer to the attached document for more details.
