Solution

An issue was found with the PCM audio data that is created when using the xing_mpega_decoder.so to decode mp3 audio data. The waveform produced is exactly the inverse of the input data.

This can be tested by creating a asymmetric repeating waveform (say with multiple peaks but only a single trough) encoded in the mp3 format, and then playing that waveform back while examining the analog audio output signal on an oscilloscope.

A fix was made to the library in question in PR# 75289 from which a patch can be created that resolves the issue.
