At IBM's invitation, QNX became one of the original 13 member companies of Eclipse.org. Today, QNX remains at the forefront of Eclipse as a project leader of one of its most critical initiatives for the embedded market, the C/C++ development tools project (CDT).

QNX and IBM collaborate on a number of technology and product initiatives:

• IBM WebSphere Software. The foundation for web-enabled applications and a key product set in deploying a Service Oriented Architecture, IBM WebSphere products are targeted at helping a number of business processes using open standards to interconnect applications, data and operating systems. QNX helps support its own customer base with IBM Embedded Java technology - QNX sells and supports IBM's Websphere Studio Device Developer, J9 virtual machine, and other related runtime components.
• IBM Rational - IBM Rational and QNX collaborate closely on the Eclipse CDT and Eclipse-based versions of Clearcase and Rational Rose.
• IBM Via Voice - IBM offers its ViaVoice family of embedded speech products for the QNX Neutrino RTOS on a number of architectures, including x86, ARM, SH4, and PowerPC.
