QNX and HI Corporation Showcase Digital Instrument Cluster Support at 2014 CES

Companies demonstrate how their advanced technologies for digital clusters can enhance user experience for drivers

LAS VEGAS, 2014 International CES (North Hall, Booth 536), January 7, 2014 QNX Software Systems Limited, a global leader in software platforms for in-car electronics, today announced a technology partnership with HI Corporation, a provider of comprehensive human-machine interface (HMI) solutions for embedded devices, to offer HMI solutions for automotive companies building infotainment systems and digital instrument clusters. As part of the collaboration, HI Corporation will optimize its HMI tools and runtime software for the QNX CAR™ Platform for Infotainment.

At 2014 CES, the companies will showcase their new partnership with a digital instrument cluster that can seamlessly integrate with the car’s navigation system to display turn-by-turn directions directly in front of the driver, where they are easier to see.

“To build compelling HMIs, it is important to have attractive designs, a human-centered design process for superior usability, and tools for efficient software development and implementation,” said Director Hirotaka Suzuki, HI Corporation. “By working with QNX Software Systems and its QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment, HI Corporation can provide all of these. We are looking forward to showcasing our work together at CES.”

For years, device manufacturers have been using HI’s technology for HMI solutions in the global automotive market. HI continues to innovate its solutions to contribute to the evolution of integrated in-car user experiences.

“As more and more automotive companies introduce digital instrument clusters in their vehicles, demand will grow for flexible, pre-integrated cluster solutions that allow developers to target a wide range of vehicle models using a single software platform,” said Peter McCarthy, director, global partnerships, QNX Software Systems. “We are thrilled to welcome HI Corporation to our partner ecosystem.”

QNX Software Systems has licensed its software technology for use in tens of millions of in-vehicle systems worldwide, including 3D navigation systems, multimedia head units, digital instrument clusters, connectivity modules, and hands-free systems. The company’s QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment offers a unique set of pre-integrated technologies to help reduce development efforts and speed time to market for connected, media-rich infotainment systems. The platform is also highly flexible, providing customers with support for a rich choice of application environments, smartphone platforms, user interface technologies, and connectivity standards.
