QNX Names Tyler Nelson Vice President of Marketing, Business Development

  • OTTAWA, Canada, March 18, 2009 - QNX Software Systems today announced the appointment of Tyler Nelson as vice president of marketing and business development. In this role, Mr. Nelson will be responsible for building strategic relationships with customers and partners, and for developing strategies that will drive revenue growth in new markets and grow market share in the company’s core markets.

    Before joining QNX Software Systems, Mr. Nelson cofounded startup software vendor YOU i Labs to commercialize a set of mobile graphical user interface design tools, touchscreen-centric client engines, and related intellectual property. He established the foundations of the venture, built its brand and positioning platform, and secured its initial partnerships and lead customers.

    Mr. Nelson previously served as vice president of business development and marketing at Bridgewater Systems Corporation, where he worked to reposition the company, successfully building new strategic channels and revenue growth leading to the firm’s successful exit to IPO.

    Prior to his work at Bridgewater Systems Corporation, Mr. Nelson held the position of vice president of global business development at Research In Motion (RIM), known for its highly successful efforts to establish the RIM BlackBerry as the leading mobile office and messaging solution. During his time with RIM, he was responsible for a number of mandates, including acquisition and commercialization of the company’s global network of wireless operator partnerships, channel development and management, business affairs and inception, and development and commercialization of the firm’s BlackBerry Connect and BlackBerry Built-In business unit.
