Connect Tech and QNX enter into partnership for Xilinx hardware and support needs

News at a Glance...

  • QNX Neutrino RTOS now supports industrial temperature range, larger footprint, and other new options of Z5xx platform.
  • Support includes Flash-based HMI player, hardware-assisted 2D/3D OpenGL ES graphics, and unique fastboot technology for instant-on applications.
  • For maximum performance, developers can now download the Intel C++ Compiler Professional Edition 11.0 for the QNX Neutrino RTOS.
  • QNX to present a demo of QNX fastboot technology for Intel Atom processors at embedded world booth #11-324.
  • GUELPH, ON, February 27, 2009 — The idea of deploying the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS on Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGAs has been a direction that many in the QNX community have looked forward to for some time. With a Xilinx contributed BSP available on Foundry27, the community portal for QNX software developers, developers can now design applications that strike a balance between software efficiency and hardware parallelism.

QNX Software Systems recognizes that many users may need a practical hardware platform to host their application. Users require a hardware platform that is more robust and compact than the traditional development board, hardware that can actually be deployed in the field. Connect Tech, as an embedded solutions provider specializing in Xilinx based hardware, can provide just that.

“The addition of the Xilinx BSP to Foundry27 has been appealing to the QNX developer community for some time, however we have felt the need to bridge the gap between our operating system know-how with a partner with proven hardware experience” explains Kroy Zeviar, Business Alliance Manager. “The FreeForm/PCI-104 product line from Connect Tech bridges the gap with commercially validated hardware that allows QNX developers to quickly test VHDL code/software. Using FreeForm/PCI-104 means no need to spin your own hardware.”

The Xilinx Virtex-5 PowerPC embedded processor system has several performance enhancing advantages over traditional microprocessor solutions. The development of custom instructions allows outsourcing of complex calculations to the FPGA fabric to take advantage of the true parallel processing capabilities of hardware.

In addition to their hardware expertise, Connect Tech offers QNX developers engineering services to assist you along the way. From simple Q&A through to direct access to their developers, Connect Tech can provide a level of service to meet your needs.

“We look forward to leveraging the Foundry27 portal providing QNX customers a transparent support model for all of their QNX and Xilinx related needs” stated David Worthen, President of Connect Tech.

Since 1985 Connect Tech has been providing hardware to industry with 22 of those years supporting QNX software; ensuring driver availability to support the needs of the QNX community. It is this experience along with our developments with the Xilinx line of FPGAs that will ensure success on your next project.
