  • The Tridium Niagara Framework relies on QNX Neutrino's fault-resilient architecture and industry-proven realtime performance.

  • OTTAWA, February 1, 2005 - QNX Software Systems today announced that Tridium Inc., a leader in software for realtime control applications, has standardized on the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS and QNX Momentics® development suite for its flagship NiagaraAX Framework platform. QNX Neutrino will be the sole operating system to power the company's full product line, including the JACE embedded controllers and Niagara OEM runtimes. By making the strategic decision to standardize on QNX Neutrino, Tridium will provide its customers with enhanced realtime control, greater reliability, and support for advanced web services at the device level, while accelerating software development to deliver new versions of the Niagara Framework to market quicker.

Niagara is a leading platform for M2M and "device-to-enterprise" applications. Highly extensible, it integrates diverse systems and devices - regardless of manufacturer or communication protocol - into a unified platform that can be easily managed and controlled in real time over the Internet using a standard web browser.

Niagara utilizes IBM's embedded WebSphere Java™ environment running on QNX Neutrino for embedded device applications. With QNX Neutrino's microkernel architecture and inherent reliability, Niagara Framework users achieve fault-resilient systems and industry-leading realtime performance.

"Today's automation and energy-services markets demand a reliable solution that provides realtime capabilities to alert building systems operators in the shortest time possible. By standardizing on QNX, we can continue to build a highly reliable and efficient Niagara Framework platform with the most advanced web-services capabilities and performance for mission-critical control, alarming, and energy management systems," said John Petze, president, Tridium Inc.

"With QNX Neutrino and QNX Momentics, innovative companies such as Tridium can deliver extremely reliable solutions with reduced time to market," said Dan Dodge, president and CEO, QNX Software Systems. "Based on QNX Neutrino, the Niagara Framework provides a highly reliable platform for facilities automation, energy services, and the burgeoning M2M markets."
