New QNX CAR 2 application platform honored with Best of CES Award in Car Tech category
The latest QNX concept car, unveiled this week at CES 2012, received the show's highest honor in the automotive category. According to the folks at CNET, QNX has an award-winning "vision for the future of dashboard technologies" ... among other (more tangible) things.
The concept Porsche Carrera has an innovative application of NFC technology that instantly and automatically pairs a Bluetooth smartphone. It also includes ultra HD voice technology that brings stereo CD quality to phone calls. Apps integration for both front and backseat adds another layer of coolness to make this car a pretty sweet ride.
QNX was in good company on the show floor, with such heavy hitters as Microsoft, and had to go head-to-head with two other worthy finalists in the Car Tech category: Scout by Telenav and Pioneer AppRadio.
But ultimately it is QNX and our customers who get to drive home a winner.
QNX CAR 2 application platform
The QNX concept car was designed to demonstrate how the QNX CAR 2 application platform can help automakers and automotive tier one suppliers build highly sophisticated and future-ready car-infotainment systems. The platform features an innovative new framework that allows automakers to leverage the power of HTML5 to help keep their vehicles fresh with new content, address consumer demands for the latest mobile apps, and leverage a huge developer community. The QNX CAR 2 application platform is scheduled for general availability in mid-2012.
