Getting started with the QNX SDK for HTML5

This SDK provides the command-line packaging utilities and core Apache Cordova components required to create HTML5 apps that can be deployed on targets running the QNX SDK for Apps and Media 1.0 and/or QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment 2.1 reference images. The SDK also contains additional Cordova plugins for accessing APIs specific to the QNX CAR platform, so you can extend your applications to integrate with the platform's automotive services.

After you install the SDK, you'll need to do the following:
  1. Install Node.js (current version is v0.10.24) if you don't already have it installed. Follow these OS-specific instructions:
    Host OS Command/instruction
    Ubuntu Linux

The default apt repository for Ubuntu 12.04 has an old version (0.6.x) of Node.js. To obtain the required version (0.9.9 or higher), you may have to install Node.js manually or use an alternate apt repository. For the current instructions, go to http://nodejs.org/download/ and click "Installing from package managers".

    Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Note: You must run the following command as the root user—run su - before executing the command.
    # yum install nodejs
    Windows
    1. Download the Node.js installer from http://nodejs.org/.
    2. Run the installer to install Node.js on your Windows host.
  2. Add the packaging tools included with the SDK to your system path:

    For Linux:
Run the following in a command-line shell:
    # cd SDK_extract_location
    # cd html5sdk
    # export PATH='pwd'/tools/packaging/linux/bin:$PATH

Note: In Linux distributions, the above commands will temporarily modify your path until you close the console session. To permanently modify your path, add the following command to your bash profile, located at ~/.profile:

    export PATH=SDK_extract_location/tools/packaging/linux/bin:$PATH

    For Windows:
    C:\>cd SDK_extract_location
    C:\SDK_extract_location>cd htmlsdk
    C:\SDK_extract_location\htmlsd>set PATH=%CD%\tools\packaging\win32\bin;%PATH%

npm install -g plugman

The following table summarizes the plugman commands you'll likely use most often:
To: Use this command:
add a plugin plugman install --platform blackberry10 --project . --plugin <id|path|url> [--variable NAME=name]
list all installed plugins plugman ls
