Launching a new QNX Azure Virtual Machine

This section describes how to launch a cloud target with QNX OS.

You must be familiar with launching a target from the Azure portal. For details, go to Quickstart: Create a Linux virtual machine in the Azure portal in the Azure documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/linux/quick-create-portal?tabs=ubuntu.

To launch a new QNX OS target, we recommend the following settings:
  • Choose a QNX OS for your Image.
  • Under the Disks tab, check off Delete with VM. You can add more disks at this stage if necessary.
  • Under the Networking tab, check that you have your desired security group and inbound ports.
  • Connect to your target.
When the target first boots, the target terminal prompts you to input new passwords for the root user and the qnxuser user.
Note:
If you're connecting through the Azure serial console, the first prompt appears when you give keyboard focus to the console and press ENTER. After this initial setup, you should use SSH to connect to the target.
