QNX Director of Advanced Technologies Named to Ottawa Business Journal’s Forty Under 40

OTTAWA, June 20, 2012 QNX Software Systems Limited, a global leader in embedded software and a subsidiary of Research In Motion Limited (RIM), today announced that Dan Cardamore, the company’s director of advanced technologies, has earned a place on the Ottawa Business Journal’s prestigious Forty Under 40 list.

As director of advanced technologies, Cardamore is responsible for QNX Software Systems’ product prototyping and research activities. He played an instrumental role in the development of the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ OS and its highly popular software update (2.0) released this year. As part of this software update, Dan spearheaded the development of product features — native email, calendar, and contacts — that rounded out the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet’s rich web, multimedia, and multitasking capabilities. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Carleton University.

Winners of the 2012 Ottawa Business Journal Forty Under 40 were selected by a committee of judges that included Erin Kelly, Ottawa Chamber of Commerce executive director; Sophia Leong, University of Ottawa Telfer EMBA director; Michael Burnatowski, Invest Ottawa Entrepreneurship Centre manager; Nick Quain, CellWand Communications CEO; Peter Kovessy, Ottawa Business Journal editor; and Michael Curran, Ottawa Business Journal publisher.

“At QNX Software Systems, we live and breathe innovation. No one embodies that more than Dan,” said Sebastien Marineau-Mes, senior vice president, QNX engineering and senior vice president, BlackBerry OS. “From his exceptional work on the BlackBerry PlayBook OS to the creation of our stellar multimedia team, Dan has played a pivotal role in the company’s success. We are excited to celebrate Dan’s inclusion on the Ottawa Business Journal’s Forty Under 40.”
