QNX Announces Next Generation Hands-free Software

QNX Aviage Acoustic Processing Suite 2.0 supports best-in-class hands-free communication in cars.

OTTAWA October 18, 2011 QNX Software Systems Limited, a global supplier of software, tools, and engineering services for the in-car telematics and infotainment market, today announced that the QNX Aviage Acoustic Processing Suite 2.0 is now available to automakers and automotive Tier One suppliers to build high quality hands-free solutions. QNX Software Systems best-in-class acoustic processing software is used by 18 automakers on over 100 vehicle platforms in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Drivers are rapidly adopting hands-free communication, which must provide a high level of accuracy and clarity, even in a noisy automotive interior. The QNX Aviage Acoustic Processing Suite is a field-tested solution for the receive- and send-side of hands-free calls that manages acoustic echo cancellation (AEC), noise reduction, wind blocking, dynamic parametric equalization (DPEQ), high frequency encoding, and bandwidth extension. The suite helps automakers develop hands-free solutions cost-effectively by eliminating the need for dedicated acoustic processing hardware and by shortening the tuning process from days to hours.

Systems that use the QNX Aviage Acoustic Processing Suite include the recently announced OnStar FMV, an aftermarket rearview mirror that features core OnStar services such as automatic crash response, turn-by-turn navigation, and hands-free calling.
