Hyundai Autonet Selects QNX Neutrino RTOS for Multimedia Telematics Platform
OTTAWA, June 17, 2003 - QNX Software Systems today announced that Hyundai Autonet, a leader in automotive multimedia electronics, has selected the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating (RTOS) for its Driver Information System (DIS) Platform.
This telematics platform, based on the mobileGTTM architecture, is one of the first to use the emerging networking standard MOST (Media Oriented System Transport) to provide information and entertainment throughout the car. MOST, a fiber-optic network optimized for the automobile industry, together with the QNX Neutrino RTOS, enables the DIS platform to simultaneously run navigation systems, hands-free phone modules, rear-seat entertainment screens, and other media-rich applications. The unit also integrates standard automotive controls like window lifts, seat adjusts, and HVAC through a single, multi-function console.
To manage the complexity of system's many DIS functions, Hyundai Autonet uses a range of automotive-grade QNX software modules, including the Photon microGUI®, audio and graphics drivers, networking stacks, and a flash file manager. The modular architecture of the QNX Neutrino RTOS keeps the system "future ready," allowing application and system software to easily be added or updated and lengthening the life cycle of the platform.
