How our software gets to you

QNX Software Systems ("QSS") licenses its real time operating system software to Value Added Resellers (VARs) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for integration into their Product. The VAR / OEM configures the QNX RTOS software (“Software”) to suit its purposes, integrates it into their own hardware and software environment and offers the product to its customers (of which presumably you are one).

QSS tests its software on specific reference platforms. QSS cannot warrant that its Software will function in accordance with related documentation in every combination of hardware platform, software environment, and Software configuration. QSS is unaware of the environment in which the Software has been provided to you. QSS places the responsibility for integrating and testing the Software to ensure it is suitable for end-user products with your VAR.

Licensing of QNX RTOS Software

While an OEM/VAR may sell its products to you, the QNX RTOS software can only be licensed, not sold. As such, the Software is subject to a software license, called an End User License Agreement (EULA) that sets out the license terms under which you may use the Software. The chart below outlines the EULA that applies to you and the License Guide that describes the Software components of the QNX RTOS (of which you may only have a subset).

Third Party Software

QNX 6.x RTOS software contains certain third party open source contributions. By the terms under which such software is licensed, we are obliged to advise end users of its genesis and other license terms. The above chart identifies the applicable License Guide that provides information on third party software contributions.
