Here are a few tips for troubleshooting problems you may encounter when generating new target images or modifying image content.
Image generation
If you're having problems with image generation, try some of the following:
- Confirm that your workspace is correctly set up, and that your environment variables point to the correct
directories (see Prepare the work environment).
- Check that you're using the necessary options when you run the mksysimage.py (see mksysimage.py) command.
- Run mksysimage.py with the -i. This option makes all files optional, so the
build won't fail because of a missing file. When you use the -i option, it allows the build to complete,
which can help you to identify the missing files and correct the problem (see Making a file optional).
For more information about build files, partitions and images, see the QNX SDP 7.0
Documentation.
Adding or modifying content
Adding a file to a fileset doesn't guarantee that the file is included in the final image. When you
add a file to a fileset, you must also ensure that:
- the fileset is included in a profile (see Profiles)
- the profile file is included in the system configuration file
(see Configuring Partitions and Images)
- the new file is located in a directory specified by the
searchpaths.cfg file
- there isn't another file with the same name in a search path that is scanned before the path
with the file you want (see Search paths)
- the new file's user, group and permissions are correctly defined (see Users and groups)
