Bands tab

For efficiency, the QNX Neutrino allocator preallocates small memory buffers (bands) for satisfying requests for small allocations. This saves applications a trip through the kernel's memory manager for small blocks, thus improving performance.

The bands handle allocations of up to 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96, and 128 bytes in size. Any activity in these bands is shown on the Bands tab:

The counters for used and free blocks are listed in the top left corner of the tab. Click the circle to the left of each counter to enable or disable it in the Bands Allocation chart. This top chart shows allocation and deallocation counts for each band for the time range selected in the Use Blocks chart.
