In addition to viewing data about a running program through the Memory Analysis tool, you can log the analysis results to a file
on the target system. The advantage of doing so is that it frees up
qconn resources; you run the process now and
perform the analysis later. Also, if your target is not connected to the network, it's the only way you can do memory analysis.
Note:
You need to use different storage files if you intend to run simultaneous Memory Analysis sessions. For example,
this means that if you want to have two sessions running at the same time, you have to specify different trace log files.
The general steps in performing a postmortem analysis are:
- Start the program from the command line, as explained in Launching from the command line with Memory Analysis.
- Copy the trace log file to the host, then import the file into the IDE, as explained in
Importing Memory Analysis data.
The Memory Analysis session is created and populated with data. You can then open the session and
view its data.
