Fixed issues

  • The QNX Software Center now uses Open JDK version 1.8.265. (Ref# J2887711)

Known issues

  • If you have activated licenses, the QNX Software Center may, upon launching, display a warning for each one. (Ref# J2876541)
Workaround: Simply click Cancel each time the warning is displayed. If you have any subsequent activation issues, contact your license administrator.

  • The license you choose in the installation wizard determines which installation variant (e.g. development seat, build server) will be created. The variant cannot subsequently be changed.
Workaround: If the variant of an installation isn't applicable to your project, add a new installation and select an appropriate license for it. (To determine the variant of an installation, use the Installation Properties dialog. Any installation that uses a license issued before this release will appear as a Default variant.)

  • When adding an installation, you may see a License Key Selection dialog that displays the message No license keys required, proceed or License key selection is complete, proceed. In either case, you can simply click Finish to start the installation process. (Ref# J2871945)

  • If you import a text-based patch set to create a new installation, the new installation may not contain all of the packages found in the original installation. (Ref# J2815336)
Workaround: If you’re using the GUI, export the patch set as an Unsigned Package Patchset. If you’re using the command line, use the -exportPatchSet option.

  • If you install an experimental package and then deactivate Install experimental packages in the Installation Properties dialog, the QNX Software Center won’t let you install, uninstall, or repair any packages in the affected installation. (Ref# J2812561)
Workaround: If you've installed experimental packages, leave Install experimental packages enabled.

  • If you select a QNX Momentics IDE installation and then select the Available tab, you may see some packages that don’t apply to the installation. (Ref# J2814968)
Workaround: Ignore the packages displayed in the Available tab.

  • On occasion, the installation selector may not display its dropdown list when you click on it. (Ref# J2814864)
Workaround: Select a different tab, then return to tab you were working in. You should now be able to access the dropdown list.

  • If you use the -selfupdate command-line option to update from release 1.5.1 to 1.6.1 and then run the -version option, the command hangs and doesn’t print the version number. (Ref# J2780051)
    Workaround: Force-quit the command.

  • Unchecking Install debug symbols in the Installation Properties dialog applies only to packages that provide symbols in a separate package. The debug symbols for all other packages will still be installed. (Ref# J2814743)

  • If you have an existing installation of the QNX Momentics IDE and then add another IDE installation, the Launch Momentics option on the QNX Software Center welcome screen starts only the first installation. (Ref# J2805263, 2814965)
Workaround: To start the newer installation, follow the instructions provided in the Starting the IDE section of the Integrated Development Environment User's Guide.

  • On some Linux distributions, the QNX Software Center GUI may crash on startup. (Ref# J2796570)
    Workaround:

    1. Run the following command to look for linker errors:
      LD_DEBUG=files ./qnxsoftwarecenter
    2. Look for an error similar to this one:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcairo.so.2: error: symbol lookup error: undefined symbol: FT_Get_Var_Design_Coordinates (fatal)
    3. If you see the above error, remove the following libfreetype library from the QNX Software Center installation:
      qnxsoftwarecenter/features/com.qnx.tools.jre.linux.x86_64_1.8.192/jdk8u192-b12-jre/lib/amd64/libfreetype.so.6

The QNX Software Center should now be able to start.

  • On Ubuntu Desktop, the Launch Momentics control in the Welcome Screen may not work. This issue occurs when the libgnomevfs2-0, libgnome-2-0, and libgnomeui-0 packages aren't installed on the host. (Ref# J2552337)
Workaround: Install the required libgnome packages.

  • If you install and use the VMware package, the QNX Software Center’s Verify Installation feature may complain that your installation has issues. (Ref# J1679594)
Workaround: Don't launch VMWare using the installed image. Instead, copy the image and its related files to a writable location (for instance, your workspace or home directory) and run it from there. That way, the installed image remains intact and won't trigger a warning when you verify the installation. You can always replace your workspace copy with the original image from the installation by copying the image over again.

  • When you're prompted to update the QNX Software Center, a popup window asks you to restart the center. If you click Yes to restart, you may get an error message that the center has stopped working. (Ref# J2553359, 2811660)
Workaround: Close the error dialog and start the QNX Software Center as you normally do.

  • You cannot uninstall a package if other installed packages require it, even if the dependency of the package is optional. (Ref# J2766646)
  • When you select a package in the Updates tab, the Properties view may, on occasion, fail to display the package's properties. (Ref# J2732527)
Workaround: Close the Properties view and then restore it by selecting Window>Show Properties View.

  • On macOS, resizing the main window can, in some scenarios, cause the QNX Software Center to crash. (Ref# J2711693)

  • On Firefox, clicking a weblink in a properties window may not always launch a browser. (Ref# J2705680)
Workaround: Use the Google Chrome browser.

  • For some packages, the End User License Agreement pane indicates which agreement applies to the package, but doesn't display the full text of the agreement. (Ref# J2697781)
Workaround: Follow these steps to read the full agreement:

    1. Go to Installed tab.
    2. Select the baseline package (for instance, QNX® Software Development Platform 7.0).
    3. In the Properties view, select End User License Agreement.
