A commercial partner is a company that develops hardware or software that is complimentary to the QNX product family and will make their products commercially available. Examples include companies that make CPUs, boards, hardware peripherals, development tools, databases, and middleware. QNX also recognizes independent consultants (entities of 5 employees or less) as QNX partners, although there are some guidelines on the use of software as it pertains to commercial development.

QNX Partner developers get access to development seats for the purposes of:

• porting complimentary software to QNX
  
• writing BSPs or drivers for complimentary hardware products
  
• supporting mutual customers
  
• preparing demos of QNX complimentary technology running with QNX
