Diagnostic Tools Webcast

Complex systems typically involve thousands of lines of code and multiple applications sharing the same resources. Diagnosing behavioral issues and optimizing performance are difficult tasks that can add weeks - or sometimes months - to development cycles. When system irregularities arise, development teams often have to resort to an inefficient "divide and conquer" approach to find the problem. What's worse, using conventional, intrusive debugging techniques can actually change the behavior, causing it to manifest somewhere else.

In this web seminar, Thomas Fletcher, tools manager at QNX Software Systems, looks at how diagnostic tools can help isolate logic and memory issues by such mechanisms as visualizing memory usage, detecting buffer overruns, resolving timing conflicts, and rooting out logic flaws. Mr. Fletcher looks at two complex debugging scenarios and demonstrate the use of memory analysis and profiling tools in the QNX® Momentics® development environment. He also discusses how this software is integrated into the open Eclipse IDE framework to provide instant access to best-of-breed tools.
