QNX Named as CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Award Honoree

OTTAWA, November 13, 2012QNX Software Systems Limited , a global leader in software platforms for the in-car infotainment and telematics market, today announced that its QNX CAR™ 2 application platform has been named an International CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree, in the Software & Mobile Apps category. The prestigious program was created to honor outstanding design and engineering in consumer electronics products across 29 product categories. Products are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers, and members of the media.

The QNX CAR 2 application platform is a pre-integrated software stack designed to reduce the time and effort of creating highly sophisticated and personalizeable in-car infotainment systems. It is now being evaluated by select automakers and tier one automotive suppliers for use in next-generation infotainment systems.

“This has been a tremendous year for us, especially for the QNX CAR 2 application platform, which has seen exceptional validation from the automotive community,” said Derek Kuhn, vice president, sales and marketing, QNX Software Systems. “We look forward to continuing this momentum throughout 2013, and the CES Innovations Design and Engineering award is a great way to start the new year.”

The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) ®, the producer of the International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

Honorees will be displayed at CES Unveiled, the official press event of the International CES, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 6 in the South Seas Ballroom C at Mandalay Bay. They will also be on display at the Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase in The Venetian at the 2013 International CES, which runs January 8-11, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Separately, QNX Software Systems will also exhibit at CES 2013 in the Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall, booth number 1837.

The Innovations entries are judged on the following criteria:
To be selected as an Innovation honoree, a product needs to demonstrate innovative design and engineering. For example, it may be the first product to combine various technologies or it may offer dramatic enhancements over previous product designs.

Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering honoree products are featured on the CES Innovation Awards web page, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, designer, description, photo and URL.
