Intamac demos vehicle-to-home automation solution concept with ng Connect Program members Alcatel-Lucent and QNX Software Systems at CES

From mobile phones to the lte connected car, home automation and security will be available via LTE.

Venetian Veronese 2503, Las Vegas, NV, January 5, 2010 — At CES, connected home provider and ng Connect Program member Intamac Systems will be demonstrating how people’s lives will be transformed by the next-generation of high-bandwidth mobile services between car and home. Visitors to the show can see the demo at Alcatel-Lucent’s suites at CES at the Venetian Veronese, on January 7-10 in Las Vegas.

The ng Connect Program brought together innovative companies Intamac, Alcatel-Lucent and QNX Software Systems to develop the latest capability for the LTE Connected Car — mobile home management from the vehicle. The LTE Connected Car is a concept car which connects to ultra high-speed mobile networks and is a showcase for next-generation in-vehicle services including video-on-demand, games, audio library, detailed traffic and weather information, and remote diagnostics and maintenance. It’s built on the base of a hybrid electric car — the 2010 Toyota Prius — and powered by QNX Software Systems’ advanced automotive interfaces.

Intamac is taking the concept car one stage further by enabling it to communicate with the company’s home management and security systems. With Intamac’s newly integrated solution, the LTE Connected Car now supports menu-driven touchscreen communication from the car to Intamac’s home automation systems, allowing passengers to adjust the temperature and control lights in a house, for example. The new capability also supports remote viewing of a live video feed to the car from home security cameras. Turn on your living room lights or check to see if you locked your door on the way out to work with the touch of an icon from an in-car touchscreen!

“At CES we’ll be demonstrating how the vehicle can be made into a practical extension of the home environment,” said Intamac Systems’ CEO Kevin Meagher. “The LTE Connected Car creates an entirely new mobile platform on which mobile operators will be able to extend new and existing value-added services that will increase revenue and customer loyalty.”

The Intamac home automation and security solution is also enabled for use with mobile phones and PCs.

“The integration of Intamac’s home automation solution into the LTE Connected Car is a major expansion of the car’s rich array of services and is a powerful proof point for the capability LTE networks will be able to support when deployed,” stated Derek Kuhn, Vice President, Emerging Technology and Media Group, Alcatel-Lucent, a founding member of the ng Connect Program.
