  • BARCELONA, Spain, GSMA Mobile World Congress, February 11, 2008 — QNX Software Systems today announced it will demonstrate the QNX® Aviage® family of middleware products running on Freescale’s multimedia processors at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The demonstration will showcase networked multimedia frameworks and multimedia engines in a Flash-based human machine interface (HMI), highlighting the power of combining Freescale multimedia processors with the performance and reliability of the QNX Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS) and the QNX Aviage middleware family. The QNX Aviage family includes the QNX Aviage HMI player for Adobe Flash Lite 3, the QNX Aviage multimedia suite, and the QNX Aviage acoustic processing kit.

Taking advantage of Freescale’s i.MX31 processor for multimedia applications, the demonstration also highlights the clean, high-speed image rendering of the Nav N Go 3D iGO navigation software. Freescale’s i.MX31 processor is based on ARM11™ technology and designed for portable media players, portable navigation (GPS) devices, multimedia cellular phones, and a host of other mobile infotainment applications.

“This demonstration of the QNX Aviage product family with Freescale reflects our ability to offer high-end HMIs for the consumer electronics market,” said Randy Martin, HMI and multimedia products manager at QNX Software Systems. “As these consumer devices offer more advanced features such as Internet connectivity, video, and media storage, the need for the highly reliable interface design provided by QNX middleware has become even more critical.”

Visitors to GSMA World Mobile Congress can see the demonstration in the Freescale stand (hall 8, booth 8B91) from February 11 – 14, 2008.
