QNX Names Sebastien Marineau Vice President of Engineering

  • OTTAWA, Canada, November 20, 2007 — QNX Software Systems, a leading provider of realtime operating systems, development tools, and middleware for the embedded market, today announced the appointment of Sebastien Marineau as vice president, engineering. In this role, Mr. Marineau will be responsible for all QNX research and development activities, including software development and quality assurance.

    Since joining QNX Software Systems, Mr. Marineau has held positions of increasing responsibility, from software architect to director of the operating system group. In 2007, he managed the introduction of the QNX® hybrid software model initiative, a breakthrough approach to embedded development that combines the best advantages of the proprietary and open source software models.

    Mr. Marineau served as the first project lead for the Eclipse C/C++ Development Tools (CDT) project and, in 2002, led the team that created the QNX Momentics® development suite, the first commercially available Eclipse-based IDE for embedded development. In his role of networking architect at QNX, Mr. Marineau worked closely with leading networking companies to optimize the QNX Neutrino® RTOS for applications ranging from high-capacity routers to wireless base stations. He has been a major contributor to the QNX technology portfolio, including multi-core capabilities, adaptive OS partitioning, and development tools.
