Fast boot

The QNX Neutrino RTOS has a very light footprint, which naturally leads to faster boot times. The microkernel can be up and running in as little as 250 milliseconds.

The microkernel design gives system architects the flexibility to control which OS and application components start—and in which order—making it easy to rearrange the system startup sequence to suit specific design needs.

This approach allows the system to meet startup audio and video requirements on each and every reboot. By starting specific device drivers and applications early in the startup cycle, the software can respond to events quickly and can give audio (or other) responses shortly after powering up.
