Applying an update from the command line

To apply an update from the command line:

  1. Ensure that your delta file is world-readable (i.e., the file permissions make it readable by all users).
  2. Name your delta file mydelta.mld.
  3. Copy the file into one of the following locations, which will be searched in this order:
    • •  The root directory (/) of a DOS/FAT32-formatted USB stick.
    • •  The root directory of your SD card's DOS partition.
  4. Ensure that the device is plugged into the board's USB or SD socket.
  5. From the console, with the HMI running, type reboot -U.

The system will reboot into the update system and attempt to apply the update. If successful, it will reboot back into the HMI; if unsuccessful, it will start a debug console so you can inspect any issues (use sloginfo to see the output from the Update Manager). When debugging is complete, type exit to reboot back into the HMI without applying the delta.
