Zip and Jaz disks

Zip and Jaz disks are large-capacity removable storage disks, used for backing up hard disks and for transporting large files.

These disks attach to the EIDE(ATA) chain. Before you attempt to use them, ensure that the hardware is set up correctly and that the BIOS detects the hardware properly. These drives are simple to set up, and they appear in the /dev directory as a hard disk. For example:

• The hard disk set up as a primary master appears as /dev/hd0.
• The Zip disk set up as a primary slave appears as /dev/hd1.

To mount the drive, type:

mount /dev/hd1 /fs/zip_drive

You don't need to remount the drive when you change disks.
