The QWF Cellular Data Service (CDS) provides logical service names for establishing and managing sockets over cellular network connections. These service names support the Access Point Name (APN) handling required by cellular operators to allow network connectivity. By connecting logical services to specific carrier APNs, CDS offers independent billing based on the underlying APN.
The service also lets client applications allow or prohibit cellular data connections while the user is roaming on a carrier network different than their home network. This last capability is useful because roaming often incurs extra charges.
