putchar()

Write a character to standard output

Synopsis:

#include <stdio.h>

int putchar( int c );

Arguments:

c
The character that you want to write.

Library:

libc

Use the -l c option to qcc to link against this library. This library is usually included automatically.

Description:

The putchar() function writes the character c, cast as (int)(unsigned char), to the stdout stream. It's equivalent to:

fputc( c, stdout );

Returns:

The character written, cast as (int)(unsigned char), or EOF if an error occurs (errno is set).

Examples:

#include <stdlib.h>

int main( void )
{
    FILE *fp;
    int c;

    fp = fopen( "file", "r" );
    c = fgetc( fp );
    while( c != EOF ) {
        putchar( c );
        c = fgetc( fp );
    }
    fclose( fp );
    
    return EXIT_SUCCESS;
}
