Product Manager
Location: Ottawa (Kanata), Ontario
Our Product Management team is looking to expand by adding a seasoned Product Manager. This position will report directly to the Director, Product Management and will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and tactical product plans for our embedded operating system and middleware products. The primary deliverables include: 1) Business Plans, 2) Market Requirements Documents, 3) Marketing Plans, 4) Customer Alpha and Beta Plans, 5) Product Roadmaps and 6) Product Collateral
Job Duties
 |
Work with key customers, sales and engineering to develop customer requirements for new products.
|
 |
Define and prioritize the function/feature list for new products. Achieve closure on the product specifications with engineering to ensure a timely start on development.
|
 |
Work with the engineering organization to manage each product from inception to market general availability, participating in design reviews, status meetings, etc. as required.
|
 |
Create new business models for emerging businesses and technologies.
|
 |
Analyze competitive businesses relevant to the embedded software segment.
|
 |
Analyze marketing and technology trends relative to the embedded industry.
|
 |
Work with other marketing groups to produce product collateral and support marketing initiatives
|
 |
May require frequent travel, approximately 10 times a year.
|
Experience & Education
 |
Enthusiasm, excitement, and genuine interest in embedded systems and technologies.
|
 |
Bachelors or Masters in E.Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree or diploma program.
|
 |
A minimum of 2 years experience in product management, technical marketing or technical sales role
|
 |
A minimum of 5 years of software development experience with C, C++, or Java in an embedded environment or UNIX-based environment.
|
 |
Prior technical lead experience is an asset
|
 |
Experience in multimedia technologies such as audio and video codecs, media processing and control and 2D/3D graphics is considered an asset
|
 |
Strong verbal, written, project management, and interpersonal communication skills as well as strong customer service orientation are required.
|
 |
Effective negotiation and conflict management skills.
|
 |
Ability to work with the colleagues to perpetuate best-in-class processes relative to Time-to-Volume, Time-to-Profit, and Go-to-Market strategies.
